Railway locomotives
Bringing railway locomotives from port to depot: heavy, concentrated loads that must be set down exactly on the rails.
The hard part is the last step — setting the locomotive onto the rails with very tight tolerances. We built a temporary platform, used two synchronised cranes and aligned step by step under the factory engineers' guidance.
How it was done
Received locomotive specifications and lifting-point requirements
Surveyed the route and the load capacity of the depot access road
Transported on a lowbed, lashed to the approved plan
Built a temporary platform and set the locomotive on the rails with two synchronised cranes
Inspected condition and signed the handover record
Convoy moving heavy equipment
Crane for lifting
