KY2 Windfarm
Bringing wind-turbine components from the discharge port to site: long, heavy, indivisible pieces on narrow rural roads.
With wind components, the hardest part is not weight but turning radius and overhead line clearance. We survey every bend, work with the power utility in advance to raise lines temporarily, and plan passing points for traffic in the same direction.
How it was done
Received component specifications: length, weight, lifting points
Surveyed the full port-to-site route and prepared contingencies
Coordinated with the power utility and traffic police where clearance was tight
Mobilised modular axle combinations and cranes at both ends
Moved at night within permitted windows, under continuous supervision
Crawler crane for lifting
Long component moving on a provincial road
